About Lebeado

Mother and daughter Jill and Kate Watkin share a passion for beads and jewellery. Anything less than a WOW from you will disappoint them when you visit any of their shops – the first two of which are now open in Durham and Jesmond, Newcastle.

Travellerholic Jill discovered Laurie Johnson’s Bead Gallery in Nelson, New Zealand last spring.  Inspired, Jill enlisted the support of 25 year old daughter Kate. Kate a graduate of Durham Uni and keen beader from childhood, did not take very much persuasion to leave her PR and Marketing job in London to return to Northumberland.

Lebeado was born in June 2007 and we believe that our shop in Durham is unique in the UK.  We offer a magical retail experience for all our customers irrespective of their age, with world class service at the heart of our company ethos.

Our wonderful team of staff will help you navigate our selection of over 5,000 different beads and findings, together with antique jewellery, old beads and designer jewellery from around the globe.

Lebeado offers workshops and beading parties for both children and adults.  We even have our own special story teller who will take children on a magical carpet ride of discovery. Which countries do our beads come from, what stories can they tell us and who has worn them and why?
